At 59° 34′ 23″ north, located at the end of a 100 km long dead-end highway, lies Atlin, B.C. It truely is a hidden gem, a winter wonderland where snow-capped peaks, the glacier tongues of the Juneau Icefield, frozen lakes, endless forests and big powder bowls come together to create a freerider’s paradise. Prepare to be awestruck by its beauty! Beyond its stunning landscapes, Atlin boasts a rich cultural heritage that dates back centuries. The town’s First Nations heritage is deeply rooted in the land, and visitors have the opportunity to learn about the traditional knowledge and customs of the Taku River Tlingit First Nation.

Atlin Mountain Inn
Our heli-skiing packages include comfortable accommodations at the Atlin Mountain Inn. After a day of powder skiing, you can head straight to the Discovery Saloon for a beer or apres-ski drinks, a round of pool or pinball, and to swap stories with your fellow adventurers.
Upstairs on the first floor you will find the dining room where you will enjoy your breakfast, as well as a 3-course gourmet dinner prepared with locally sourced ingredients and lots of love from the Lancaster family.
A smooth ride to access untouched powder fields
When it comes to flying, Discovery Helicopters LTD is our partner of choice. They are a local family business with a fleet of four helicopters and highly experienced pilots who know the area inside and out and have been flying heli-ski guests for many years. Safety is paramount to both our companies, and our professional guides work closely with their pilots to ensure your safety and find the best terrain.
Why take the bus when you can fly to Atlin? If you would like an air taxi, please ask at the time of booking and we can add it to your itinerary. Discovery Helicopters also offers scenic flights for our non-skiing guests who still want to get a glimpse of our mountain playground and some breathtaking views of the vast expanse of the Juneau Icefield. (Please note: optional private flights are subject to additional costs that will be added to your bill.)
What is a typical day like?
Welcome to a rich and fresh breakfast. Enjoy a variety of cereals, fresh bread, fruit salad, yoghurts, jams, cold cuts and many more surprises, changing slightly every morning. Although you will be served a very tasty, rich and warm lunch out in the field, you have the choice to build your own sandwich, bag it and we will take it out for you in the food containers for lunch.
The first group is picked up by our shuttle van to drop you off at our down town heli base. You will fly out and be dropped on a beautiful mountain top for your first run of the day.
The following group(s) get picked up by the helicopter right outside the Atlin Inn on the lake. Enjoy the flight to your first landing spot on a beautiful mountain top for your first run of the day.
From there the groups will ski, ski, ski and work their way deeper into our tenure.
Your hot lunch will vary every day and comes with hot tea, fruits, granola and chocolate bars. Enjoy the tranquility of the wilderness and spectacular views, while realizing the uniqueness of your stay.
Let's get back to skiing! The groups will start heading out again for more great skiing in the afternoon.
The first group is being picked up after their last run and flies back to the Atlin Inn after a great day of skiing & riding.
After a great day of skiing & riding, the last group is being dropped off at the heli port no later than 5 pm and shuttled back to the Atlin Inn to enjoy some well-deserved apres-ski drinks or activities.
You will now have time to relax in our woodfired sauna or enjoy a soak in the hot pot overlooking Atlin lake with the breathtaking mountains in the background. Have some apres-ski beers and other drinks at the Discovery Saloon, wander around our scenic Gold Rush town on the hunt for local gifts to bring your loved ones, or swing by the base for some afternoon sweets, coffee and tea.
Dinner is ready for you.
Our chef will spoil you each night with a 3 or 4-course gourmet meal for dinner. It is very worth not to be late.
Discovery Saloon time. You will fall in love with the very authentic discovery bar. Watch the pictures of the day, and exchange stories with the other groups, while playing pool billiard or pin ball and enjoying a cold local brewed beer or signature drink.
This schedule will typically give you between seven to ten runs and at the same time give you enough time to enjoy the day with no hurry. After all you’re on a holiday not a marathon….
Due to the current weather situation it is not yet sure if our helicopters can fly today. Go ahead and enjoy your breakfast, while our team of guides and pilots keeps an eye on what is happening outside & in the forecasts.
If it's a GO, we are heading out in 15 minutes! And in case the weather is still undecided we reconvene at the same place in an hour.
If conditions in Atlin allow our team to sneak a peak and fly over to check out the tenure, our lead guide will head out with his group of the day, and decide from there.
It's the time to make a final decision whether we can go skiing today or if this is going to be a FUN day.
The decision was made that it is a SKI day, so get yourself ready immediately, as the first group will be shuttled to the heliport now. And the other group(s) will be picked up by the helicopter on the lake in front of the hotel.
We will have a "delayed" schedule of our typical Bluebird Day. We are happy to push back our lunchbreak accordingly.
For safety reasons, we will not be able to extent the ski day to make up for a late start.
When the weather doesn't permit heli-skiing, it's a good day to have a lot of FUN!!!

It's a good day to have a lot of FUN!!!
We will meet at our Base and divide into groups of at least 4 guests + 1 guide to get our fun day activities started.
Pick your favorite activity:
- Take our snowmobiles & timbersleds out for a ride on Atlin's backcountry trails.
- Have a proper ice car race on the frozen lake.
- Go ski touring in the forested terrain of the mountains nearby.
- Go for a snowshoe hike.
- Try icefishing with a local.
- Relax in our wood-fired sauna or hot pot.
- Go on a scavenger hunt through town and learn more about its history.
- Hang out at the base and get creative in the kitchen 😉 OR play one of our card or board games; OR grab one of the books or magazines from our shelves.
Usually there is always one group lighting up a little bonfire to sit around and share stories, while roasting marshmallows, cooking sausages and baking stick bread.
And of course your hot lunch is ready to be either brought along on your fun day adventure or to be enjoyed at the base.

- Have some apres-fun drinks and beverages at the Discovery Saloon.
